Final Idea

After Islay Sellar and I talked about our ideas and inspirations we realized we wanted to use sheets of music as our main material but we wanted it to look subtle. We also realized the Symphony Hall was next to the ICC so we wanted to combine music and business together. We ended ended up designing a  suit that incorporated music sheets and music notes.

We were only going to make one, so whoever was not wearing it would record the whole experience however, we released that our design was so subtle it might work better if we made two in order to create a bigger impact. Therefore, we are going to create two outfits so both of us will do the same walk at the same time.

Ideas

VEASYBLE

VEASYBLE is a set of wearable accessories that can be converted at a touch into a means of isolation, it is made out of paper and is bonded to polyethylene and fabric.
This work is based on three keywords: isolation, intimacy and ornament. It consists of wearable objects that can be converted into means of isolation, to create personal intimacy in any environment, the idea came from a refelction on the change in our relationship with the domestic environment.

The Simply Defined

This is 'The Simply Defined (Green) project that is an expression of artistic abilities to promote the 'GO GREEN' movement. Every day America produces about 4.5 pounds of trash per day and 80% of it is recyclable. The Simply Defined (GREEN) Project was made in order to reuse and recycle these materials. With the exposure of her fashion and other products she hoped to raise awareness to this global movement to sustain the World's environment.

Made from newspapers and glue

Made from paper bags, they were cut apart then folded into pinwheel-like shapes then stringed together. It was inspired by the art Japanese paper folding known as origami.

This outfit is made from 72 water bottles, the labels were ripped off and made into one continuous ribbon that wraps around the body, the rest of the bottle was cut up and stringed together to form snowflake like balls that wrap around the waist.

I decided to work as a pair with Islay Sellar as we had similar ideas - Information can be found on her blog as well - http://foelcastell.wordpress.com/
We decided we wanted to use Symphony Hall as our location so we documented our walk to see if it would be possible.

Although the timing was a bit too long we felt we could make it work if we walked faster.
We chose Symphony Hall as we felt it inspired us both and gave us a lot of options to work with.

Negotiated Study

My Aim: - Create a piece of body sculpture inspired by a 3 minute 50 second walk in Birmingham City Centre that creates a reaction from the public.
I will then wear my creation and document my progress as well as the final piece and how people react to it.
